SUMMER SMILES - WestJet Stage launch!
Come and celebrate the official opening of the WestJet Stage
at the heart of Toronto’s waterfront

TORONTO, ON (June 16, 2011) – On Tuesday, June 21, the first day of summer, Harbourfront Centre and WestJet will launch their partnership with the official opening of the WestJet Stage.

The public and media are invited to join WestJetters and Harbourfront Centre staff at the Summer Smiles celebration – the perfect kickoff for Harbourfront Centre’s Hot Spot Summer festival and events.

The official launch begins at 6 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by remarks from Harbourfront Centre’s President Sonja Smits and WestJet Executive VP, Marketing, Sales and Guest Experience, Bob Cummings.

The family fun continues with live performances from Jay Douglas and the All Stars,Diyas Entertainment and Swizzlestick Theatre stilt dancers. Kids can enjoy FREE canoe rides, crafts and more! Guests can also dine at the brand-new World Café and patio, featuring a selection of delicious international cuisine.

In addition to this partnership, WestJet is working with community organizations to produce festivals with Harbourfront Centre and helping to bring artists to Toronto through its 70-city network.

The WestJet Stage, located in the heart of Toronto’s downtown waterfront, will host a variety of exciting events, including music, dance and film, as part of Harbourfront Centre’s summer programme. The popular amphitheatre was built in July 1992 and seats over 1,500 people with additional standing room for 3,000 people. Nestled along the shore of Lake Ontario, this stage has launched the careers of many local performers and had welcomed internationally renowned acts such as Mos Def, K’naan, Feist and Broken Social Scene.
