Harbourfront Centre 2011 Summer Camps offers 47 day camps for kids aged three to 17 including Arts, Marine, Specialty, Exploratory and Sports

TORONTO, ON (April 14, 2011) – Toronto’s largest and most diverse summer day camps return to Harbourfront Centre’s fabulous 10-acre waterfront site with programmes that will entertain and educate any child and please every discerning parent. Harbourfront Centre is proud to announce four brand new one-of-a-kind Summer Camps in 2011 with 43 popular returning camps. Campers aged three through 17 engage in a fully enriched environment with exceptional facilities and the city’s best counselors.

Harbourfront Centre continues to expand its reputation of providing fun opportunities for skill development and personal growth by offering 22 Arts Camps, including Creative Arts, TheatreKIDS and Pop Star; five Exploratory Camps such as Discovery Day Camp and Camp Quest; nine Marine Camps including Canoe Camp, Kayaking and various levels of sailing programmes; six Specialty Camps including Fashion, Circus and Kickflip SK8 Camp; and five Sports Camps with such offerings as Flag Football Camp, Soccer Camp or Basketball Camp.

Whether a child is keenly interested in problem-solving and design or craves the spotlight to showcase singing, dancing or raw sporting talents, diverse programmes maximize learning and fun. A description of the brand new 2011 Summer Camps is included in this release, with a list of returning individual camps at the bottom of this release.

Harbourfront Centre 2011 Summer Camps begin Monday, July 4 and run through Friday, September 2, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at various locations around the Harbourfront Centre site. With options of one, two or four-week programmes, and various sessions throughout the summer, camps are designed to accommodate parents’ difficult schedules. Fees start as low as $190 for one-week camps.

A supervised Extended-Hours programme, for working parents, is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at an additional cost. Harbourfront Centre also offers a healthy and nutritious Meal Plan in conjunction with The Lunch Lady and a comprehensive Busing programme with 39 stops throughout the City of Toronto.

Junior Camp Dance
Ages 6-8
Campers dance and learn from professional choreographers at the National Ballet of Canada. No experience required, only a desire to have fun and dance!

Intermediate Camp Dance
Age 9-11
Campers ages 9-12 also have the chance to express their love for the ballet at the National Ballet of Canada, exploring timeless ballet stories and creating their own ballet production.

Comic Book Camp
Ages 8-12
This programme is designed for the comic book enthusiasts. Comic Book Camp is an interactive camp where campers will learn how to bring their designs to life.

Senior Fashion Design Camp
Ages 12-15
This programme will teach stylish campers about the design and fashion industry. Campers will create sketches, illustrations and will end the session off by using raw fabrics and recycled clothing to create their final looks for a fashion show.
