Winner of the 2011 Prize to be featured in an evening of celebration during the 32nd annual IFOA

TORONTO, February 14, 2011 ---- The International Festival of Authors (IFOA) is thrilled to congratulate past Festival participant and author of eight books, Charles Foran on winning the 2011 Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction for his book Mordecai: The Life & Times, a biography of one of Canada's most beloved and successful writers, Mordecai Richler.

To celebrate the 10th awarding of the Prize, the IFOA and Charles Taylor Foundation are pleased to announce a special event commemorating winners and nominees both past and present to take place Friday, October 28, during the 32nd annual IFOA.

“The Charles Taylor Prize has helped shape the way readers view the genre of non-fiction,” said Geoffrey Taylor, Director, Authors at Harbourfront Centre, “and what better way to acknowledge the success of such an important Prize than to have a night honouring those who have been involved from the beginning and throughout its history.”

The October event will feature this year’s winner as well as past representation from the last nine awards. In addition, plans are underway to feature Charles Taylor Prize moments during the IFOA and throughout the province during IFOA Ontario. Toronto Festival dates are from October 19 to 29, 2011 and IFOA Ontario takes place from October 17 to November 5, 2011.
