Chill out and skate on two great rinks by the lake!
Harbourfront Centre’s skating facilities are set to open Nov. 20, 2010TORONTO, ON (Nov. 15, 2010) – Harbourfront Centre invites everyone to bundle up and skate on two great rinks by the lake. On Nov. 20, 2010, the beautiful Natrel® Rink is set to open for the winter season (weather permitting), while the year-round Natrel® Kinder Rink returns to winter hours. It’s the perfect place for friends and families to enjoy some winter fun!Come out and enjoy music and the picturesque waterfront surroundings on the Natrel® Rink–Toronto’s favorite artificially cooled outdoor rink. Built in 1983, the Natrel® Rink hosts more than 150,000 visitors each skating season and is one of the largest and most popular outdoor rinks in the city. The rink and the surrounding area have also recently been re-landscaped, making skating at our facilities more inviting than ever! The smaller Natrel® Kinder Rink is quickly becoming a fan favorite as well, especially for those who are just learning how to skate or want a little extra shelter from the cold. Nestled under the Lakeside Terrace Tent, the Natrel® Kinder Rink is the first public facility of its kind to open in Canada thanks to Artificial Grass & Landscaping (AGL). It’s made from a revolutionary synthetic material with a 98% resemblance to conventional ice rink surfaces, so you can wear regular ice skates and skate on it all year round! If the chilly winter weather gets the best of you, you can warm your fingers and toes next to our outdoor, staff-controlled fire pits or grab a quick bite at the Lakeside Eats restaurant overlooking the Natrel® Rink (you don’t even have to take off your skates)! Harbourfront Centre also provides skate rentals, sharpening, restrooms and locker services in the newly refurbished change rooms. Both rinks are located at 235 Queens Quay West, just south of York Quay Centre. The Natrel® Rink is open from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Natrel® Kinder Rink is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fire pits are open Wednesday to Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For information the public can visit harbourfrontcentre.com/skating or call the dedicated rink line at 416-973-4866.
