TORONTO, Oct. 6, 2010 ------- The 31st Annual International Festival of Authors (IFOA) is pleased to offer FREE tickets to students and youth under 24 with valid ID to all regularly priced events (subject to availability). This year’s 11-day festival kicks off October 20, 2010 and features the who’s who of contemporary literature in events ranging from readings, interviews, round table discussions, book signings and more.

This year’s IFOA lineup of more than 150 participants includes: literary heavyweights Jonathan Franzen, former Premier of Ontario Bob Rae and Toronto’s third Poet Laureate, Dionne Brand. Festival highlights include: “40 Years of the JUNO Awards” – a literary and music event featuring special guests Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, singer-songwriter Dan Hill and musician Emm Gryner; a plethora of events as part of IFOA NOIR (a special programming focus highlighting the genres of crime fiction, thrillers and mystery novels); and appearances by Jeff Lindsay, the author of the famed book and television series featuring the lovable serial killer Dexter Morgan and American writer, cult filmmaker, actor and visual artist John Waters.

Tickets using this special offer can be reserved in person or by phone only. Youth and students must present their student or photo ID at the Harbourfront Centre Box Office to collect their tickets. Please note that some exceptions apply and tickets are subject to availability.

For 11 days each October, the IFOA presents a wide range of readings, round table discussions, onstage interviews, book signings, and a number of special events featuring the most exciting authors in contemporary literature. Administered by Authors at Harbourfront Centre, this year’s 31st annual IFOA takes place from October 20 to 30, 2010.
