IFOA ONTARIO: GROWING LEAPS AND BOUNDS
Canada’s largest literary festival adds eight locations to touring programme

TORONTO, September 1, 2010 --- The 31st annual International Festival of Authors (IFOA) spreads its literary wings this year and expands its touring programme, IFOA Ontario, with festival events now in Hamilton, London, Milton, Owen Sound, Picton, Port Hope, Sudbury, and Windsor, in addition to those already occurring in Barrie, Burlington, Midland, Orillia, Parry Sound, and Uxbridge – for a total of 14 cities. Now in its fourth year, IFOA Ontario partners with libraries, bookstores and communities across Ontario to help provide areas throughout the province with access to IFOA’s world-renowned events and the Festival’s roster of the best contemporary writers from around the globe. IFOA Ontario takes place from October 21 to November 5.

Geoffrey Taylor, Director of IFOA, says: “IFOA Ontario is excited to further build upon the relationships it has fostered over the years, as well as develop new partnerships in an additional eight locations throughout the province. This touring programme would not be possible without the numerous Ontario organizations whose mission it is to bring the written word to their communities.”

Participating authors include: Trillium Book Award-winner Camilla Gibb, Man Booker Prize-winner Yann Martel and acclaimed author of the Inspector Banks novels, Peter Robinson. Also, to coincide with the festival’s IFOA Noir programming focus, mystery and crime authors Giles Blunt, Michael Koryta, Emily St. John Mandel, Michael Robotham, Robert Rotenberg, Chevy Stevens, Louise Welsh, and Eric Wright take part. For a complete list of participants, please see the schedule of events below.

Bios of all participants are available at www.readings.org under “IFOA.”

Tickets to most IFOA Ontario events are $10, with the exception of IFOA Picton, which is $15, IFOA Uxbridge, which is $20, and events that take place at Indigo are FREE. Tickets can be purchased through the box offices listed in the schedule of events below, online at www.readings.org or through the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000.
