Sappy Valentine’s Day!

Ninutik maple syrup products now available at Bounty

TORONTO, ON (Feb. 5, 2010) – Maple syrup is a quintessential Canadian cultural icon. What better way to show your sweetheart just how luscious your love is than to TAP INTO SAP! Forget about chocolates, teddy bears and roses – go for originality and innovation in your tastebud-tantalizing Valentine’s Day gifts this year with Ninutik’s maple sugar products, now available at Bounty Contemporary Craft Design at Harbourfront Centre!

Ninutik (nee-noo-tik) is the Ojibwa term describing maple sugar; this company and its products are greatly inspired by the respect, care and love of maple syrup they share with Canada’s First Nations people. Ninutik’s hard maple sugar products are also influenced by the First Nations tradition of keeping maple sugar in hard blocks.

These sleek and stylish products, designed and packaged with art and aesthetics in mind, make perfect gifts for any occasion. Family, friends, hosts, guests and business associates will all appreciate both your gifting taste and the sweet maple taste! This is NOT your souvenir shop maple candy.

Ninutik products are also a green choice – the championship maple sugar bush that supplies the maple syrup is certified organic. Tapping trees is a sustainable use of our maple tree population; healthy trees can be tapped for hundreds of years, across generations. Ninutik is also a member of Green Enterprise Toronto (, which supports local, green business helping Toronto to become a sustainable city. Among their other green efforts, Ninutik’s kitchen runs partly on solar power and waste water is diverted to a nearby community garden.

From breakfast through dinner and dessert, maple syrup is a versatile flavour addition that works in both sweet and savoury applications. It has fewer calories than white sugar, corn syrup and honey, making it a smart way to add sweetness. Maple syrup is also a great addition to your daily diet – it’s full of calcium, zinc, manganese and iron.

Do something tasteful for your sweetheart this year and have a Sappy Valentine’s Day!

Offered in two gorgeous presentation choices, CUBE 57 makes a sophisticated and distinctive gift.

Elegant, modern, distinctive - these are the words that describe the spirit of Ninutik gifts. Our intent is to present maple syrup - a Canadian cultural icon - through the lens of design, art and sugarmaking. Ninutik was created by Toronto industrial designers Dianne Croteau and Richard Brault, the founding partners of Studio Innova. For several years Dianne, Richard and their son Andre made small quantities of syrup from majestic sugar maples on protected land along the Niagara Escarpment. What started as a personal harvest soon evolved into a design exploration featuring maple syrup and sugar as the medium. In 2007 and 2008, Ninutik designs received an 'Award of Excellence' at Design Exchange Awards. For more information about Ninutik, visit
