Fall/Winter 2009 Courses and Workshops!

TORONTO, ON (November 9, 2009) –Make this holiday season even more festive by creating personalized gifts at Harbourfront Centre’s festive workshops: Holiday Card Making, Holiday Baking 101 and Candy Making for Families. This year, create wonderful memories that will be cherished for years to come!
Designed to engage your creative mind, these programmes offer fun, affordable and engaging lessons taught by seasoned instructors. It’s an opportunity to explore a new activity, expand a skill and embark upon a new learning adventure.

In addition to this semester’s holiday-themed classes, Harbourfront Centre still has limited space available in media studies and contemporary visual art and design classes, including Creating Your Own Website, Drawing for Fashion Design, Digital Photography Manipulation and Demystifying the Digital Camera. All of these courses have a hands-on approach to learning new skills.

Holiday Themed Courses:

Holiday Card Making- One day workshop
Create your own stunning, and unique Christmas Cards for friends and family to cherish for years to come. Christmas cards never looked this good!
Saturday, Nov. 28, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., $50 (materials included)

NEW! Holiday Baking 101- One day workshop!
Who says you have to be a baking pro to make fabulous holiday treats? Impress your guests and wow your family with a holiday dessert table like they’ve never seen before. Learn simple techniques and beautiful decorative touches that make for mouth-watering desserts!

NEW! Candy Making for Families- One day workshop
Bring back the old, cherished holiday tradition of candy-making and get the kids involved too! Family time is super-sweet this Christmas as adults and kids learn the craft of candy-making. This workshop is suitable for children ages five and up, accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Saturday, Dec. 5, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. $40 (one adult and one child), $10 each additional child.

Drawing for Fashion Design
Create fashion design sketches, learn how to make a presentation board and a press kit for your portfolio.

Engaging Kids with Contemporary Arts: Workshop for Parents
This adults-only workshop (suitable for parents/caregivers of children ages 3 to 12) offers time-tested strategies for engaging children with contemporary arts (visual, dance, theatre, music) with follow-up home activities. Includes an interactive gallery tour.

Media Studies:

Creating Your Own Website
Whether you’re creating a website for your home business, blog site or just for fun, learn how to do it from start to finish. Note: this course is for absolute beginners and takes place in our media lab.
Tuesdays, November 17 – December 15
6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. $200

Demystifying the Digital Camera
Learn the basics of digital photography, including the features of digital cameras, printers and recording media. Bring any digital camera to class.
Saturday, November 28
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. $75

Digital Photography Manipulation
Review the fundamentals of image capture operation, proper exposure and developing a creative eye while exploring basic image correction in image editing software. Basic computer knowledge recommended.
Full Weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
