FREE STUDENT TICKETS TO CANADA’S PREMIER BOOK FESTIVAL
International Festival of Authors celebrates 30 years with IFOA XXX

TORONTO, September 22, 2009 ------- The International festival of Authors (IFOA) is pleased to offer free tickets to students to all regularly priced events (subject to availability) to its 30th anniversary festival. This year’s 11-day festival kicks off October 21, 2009 and features a who’s who of literary talent.

Canada’s biggest literary happening celebrates its thirtieth birthday with readings, interviews, thought-provoking round tables, and chances to meet the most inspiring and talked-about authors on today’s literary scene. The IFOA lineup includes literary heavyweights Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Paul Theroux and Nobel prize winner Orhan Pamuk; International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award winner Michael Thomas; 2009 Man Booker shortlist nominee Sarah Waters; graphic artist of New Yorker fame R.O. Blechman; Liberal Party leader Michael Ignatieff; “Peep Culture” expert Hal Niedzviecki; local poets Meaghan Strimas and Kyle Buckley; and Canadian songbird Anne Murray.

In total there are more than 130 participants from 15 countries confirmed to participate in this year’s festival. A special focus on Scottish authors – Writing Scotland – contributes more than 15 authors, including international crime-writing star Ian Rankin, for a festive Highland Fling.

In addition to IFOA, students can reserve free tickets to the Authors at Harbourfront Centre weekly reading series that offers a stellar line-up of bestselling, award-winning and up-and-coming authors. Remaining events this fall are: September 23, September 30 and October 5. See readings.org for lineup.

Tickets using this special offer can be reserved in person or by phone. Students must present their student ID at the Harbourfront Centre Box Office to collect their tickets. Please note that some exceptions apply.

For a complete list of participants and events, and for additional information, the public may visit readings.org or call the Harbourfront Centre Box Office at 416-973-4000.
