HERBS UNCUT!

Toronto, May 27, 2004–It’s an herbal celebration! Start your summer off on Sunday, June 6, from noon to 6pm with the Ontario Herbalist Association’s (OHA) 14th annual A Celebration of Herbs at Harbourfront Centre, located at 235 Queens Quay West. This is a free event filled with lectures and demonstrations, activities, products, plants and more to entice the keenest herbal enthusiasts or anyone interested in health, natural skin care, gardening or cooking.

Herb Fair visitors can attend informative lectures on herbal medicines, aromatherapy, cooking with herbs and wild plants, herbal arts and crafts and Native teachings.  Take a stroll through the herbal marketplace featuring over 60 exhibitors of herbal products for health and home, beauty and skin care lines, herb and plant growers. Get information on finding an herbalist or taking courses. Join an herbwalk and learn to recognize common herbs growing in your area. Enjoy fabulous organic vegetarian fare along with ethically grown coffees and teas at the Herbal Café, stop by the day demonstration of fabric-dyeing using herbs and natural dyes. Children are not to be forgotten and can participate in creating nature crafts. This event is truly a celebration with something for everyone!

Pesto Pizzazz: Garlic, the 2004 Herb of the Year, becomes the star in the making of herb pestos.  Yvonne Tremblay, author of Thyme in the Kitchen - Cooking with Fresh Herbs, demonstrates how to make the perfect pesto, how to create delicious dishes, along with other useful cooking tips.
