Harbourfront Centre’s Circus Camp just came to town…for adults! Learn to juggle, do acrobatics, walk on stilts or a tight wire!

TORONTO, Wednesday, June 3, 2009 — Harbourfront Centre’s popular Circus Camp isn't just for kids anymore! This summer, adults are invited to run away and join the circus. They can swing on a trapeze, walk a tight wire, learn to juggle, all under the big top at Coronation Park, while getting fit and having the most fun ever!

Adults have 11 thrilling and fun circus activities to choose from. Harbourfront Centre’s own Marsha Kennington, who also coordinates the Circus Camp for kids, together with professional aerialists Rebecca Leonard and Ana Shepherd will have participants walking on their hands and flying high!

Marsha Kennington began a career as an aerialist/acrobat in 1977 and continued performing and touring throughout the US and Mexico for over a decade before settling in Canada where she founded Ontario's first circus school in 1991, the Main Space School of Circus Arts. Her professional career includes performances with the World Theatre Festival, the Hollywood Rose Bowl half-time shows and appearances on Johnny Carson. Film and TV credits include aerial rigger and circus consultant for directors Norman Jewison, Tony Bill, and Steven King, as well as acting stunt double for Daryl Hannah. Kennington’s other accomplishments include outreach to community groups; designing programs for physically challenged persons and youth at risk, and empowerment aerial workshops for abused women. She has also been a circus instructor/trainer in Nunavit, South Africa and Mongolia, as part of Cirque du Monde (a division of Cirque du Soleil’s Social Affairs).
