FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LITERARY ARTS AT HARBOURFRONT CENTRE GETS A NEW LOOK
International Readings at Harbourfront re-brands for its 35th season as
AUTHORS AT HARBOURFRONT CENTRE

TORONTO, September 2, 2008 ----- Literary Arts programming at Harbourfront Centre begins its 35th season of events this month with a new look and a new name. Formerly International Readings at Harbourfront, events now fall under the banner Authors at Harbourfront Centre. The Authors at Harbourfront Centre season begins on September 15.

Authors at Harbourfront Centre hosts a celebrated series of weekly readings that runs from September to June, the world renowned International Festival of Authors (IFOA – October 22 – November 1, 2008), and festivals for younger readers YoungIFOA (October 28, 30, 31, 2008), ALOUD (May 4 – 6, 2009), and Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™ (May 13–14, 2009). In recent years, Authors at Harbourfront Centre has expanded to include interdisciplinary programming with Harbourfront Centre’s Visual Arts, Performing Arts, School Visits, and Courses & Workshops departments. The name change reflects this evolving focus.

Said Authors at Harbourfront Centre Director Geoffrey Taylor: “Our re-branding is essentially about sense and simplicity. Our programme has evolved to include much more than just readings, but everything we do is about the authors, and we wanted our identity to reflect that.”

Authors at Harbourfront Centre acknowledges the vision, time, and creativity of Richard Clewes and CS Richardson in bringing this project to fruition. Richard Clewes is a copy writer and advertising director, and has been a member of the Authors at Harbourfront Centre board since 2007. CS Richardson is an accomplished book designer who has worked in publishing for over 20 years, and a multiple recipient of the Alcuin Award (Canada’s highest honour for excellence in book design). The new look Authors at Harbourfront Centre will be rolled out in all Authors at Harbourfront Centre materials over the coming season, including at the 29th annual International Festival of Authors.
