Harbourfront Centre invites kids to the heart of Toronto’s waterfront for a summer of fun, creativity and learning!

TORONTO, June 20, 2007 — Harbourfront Centre provides a one-of-a-kind day camp experience for kids of ages 3 to 17, with Toronto’s most diverse selection of opportunities for personal growth and enrichment, skill development and fun. This summer, Harbourfront Centre is pleased to announce its five new and exciting camps: Music Camp, Fashion Design Camp, Canadian Football Legends Camp, Overnight Camp and Outdoors Beyond. In other one-week and two-week camp sessions, kids can experience the world of theatre; explore the Toronto Harbour by sailboat, canoe or kayak; view the world through a camera lens; create their own dances; learn leadership skills (four-week session); or learn skills and strategies for golf and tennis.

NEW CAMPS!
Music Camp
Ages 10 to 16
Dedicated musicians experience an inspirational, educational, and intensive two-week camp! Staff provides guidance, development, and encouragement needed for creative collaboration. Campers must bring their instruments of choice. Whether it’s pop or punk, metal or blues, staff provides essential technical training and fundamental knowledge to guiding aspiring musicians.

Fashion Design Camp
Ages 10 to 14
With the guidance and know-how of experienced staff, campers learn the ins and outs of the world of fashion! Exposure to the fundamentals of design provides the basis for campers to experiment, illustrate, design and execute projects from start to finish. Campers work with raw fabrics to craft their final masterpiece.

Canadian Football Legends Camp
Ages 7 to 14
Campers learn fundamental football skills, sportsmanship and develop personal confidence with heroes of the game! Grouped by age and ability, campers participate in non-contact games and drills in a friendly, team-oriented environment. Activities also include training, coaching and trivia games. On the final day of camp, the Grey Cup will be on-site as campers use their new skills in an end-of-season game. In partnership with the Canadian Football Hall of Fame & Museum and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club.

Overnight Camp
Ages 7 to 10
Campers head north for an incredible three-day, two-night experience at Camp Tamarack, located in the heart of Muskoka! This taste of residential camp has activities including wakeboarding, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, fine arts, adventure course, golf and tennis. All activities are run by qualified and certified instructors, and Harbourfront Centre campers are supervised by Harbourfront Centre trained counsellors. Please note: campers must be comfortable swimming in a lake in order to participate in water activities.

Outdoors Beyond
Ages 11 to 15
Campers use skills learned in this camp on a supervised overnight camp-out on the Toronto Islands completing this “great outdoors” experience. Canoeing, kayaking, water and campsite safety, outdoor cooking, fire building, orienteering, beginner first aid, packing smart and tenting are all part of this outdoor introduction. This camp helps facilitate entry into the Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak School’s leadership programme at age 15.
