Harbourfront Centre launches Learning for Living:
over 30 interesting and diverse adult courses


TORONTO, August 17, 2005 — This fall, Harbourfront Centre introduces Learning for Living, an exciting new programme that provides adults with stimulating learning opportunities by offering various courses in areas of contemporary culture. Adults can go gallery-hopping, visit restaurants to find out about cultural cuisine, learn to act, dance and sing, join a book club, learn to decorate and garden for small spaces, plus more! Learning for Living also offers single adults an opportunity to meet and mingle while cooking, dancing, skating or learning the art of improv comedy.

Running from September to May, Learning for Living offers different types of courses: series courses over a period of time, one & two day workshops and drop-in courses. Registration begins on August 22. Please register at least one week in advance of course start date. Some courses require minimum number of registrants. Costs vary. Learning for Living series courses offered: Acting for the Terrified, Book Arts, The Book Club, Contact Dance I & II, Creative Writing, Demystifying the Digital Camera, Design for Set & Stage, The Diners’ Club, Encaustic Painting, Flamenco for Beginners, Found Footage Film, Get Into the Groove, Improv, Introduction to Garden Design & Landscape, Joking Around: The Art of Play, Kathak for Beginners, Kathak/Flamenco Fusion, Learning to Look, Life Drawing, Rediscover Your City and Singing for the Terrified.

Learning for Living one-day workshops offered: Balcony Gardening, Chinese Brush Painting, Decorating for Small Spaces, Mosaics for your Home & Garden, Planting Native Grasses and Wildflowers with the Summer Rains and The Weekend Gardener.

The Learning for Living singles’ component offers a series of one-day workshops and series courses: Cooking for Singles, Dance for Singles, Improv for Singles and Skating for Singles.
