Robert Wilson Cancellation as The Final Weekend Takes a Bow!

TORONTO April 30, 2005—World Stage: Flying Solo’s Artistic Director and Director of Performing Arts, Tina Rasmussen, regrettably announces the cancellation of the festival’s scheduled Robert Wilson lecture. Due to recent health concerns, Mr. Wilson’s free lecture, which was to take place in the Premiere Dance Theatre this Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m. and included as a bonus programme in this year’s themed Flying Solo festival will not take place. The festival continues on through Sunday.

World Stage: Flying Solo wraps up a highly successful run of 19 mainstage productions this weekend with the continuation through Sunday of Sea Peach, written and performed by Catherine Kidd and directed by Jeremy Hechtman. Sea Peach opens Saturday in The Brigantine Room where the surprise festival hit, featuring Caroline O’ Connor in Bombshells makes a “deliriously successful” sold-out exit tonight. One Yellow Rabbit’s A Fabulous Disaster, created and performed by the incomparable Denise Clarke burns hot in the Studio Theatre, while Benji Reid moves to the grooves in Harbourfront Centre Theatre. A Woman In Waiting continues its triumphal return to the Studio Theatre with the emotionally riveting performance of Thembi Mtshali, while the cast of Loose Moose Theatre Company shows the depth of their skills in spontaneous presentations in The Life Game. This show in the Lakeside Terrace created by Keith Johnstone, reveals how everyone’s life is made up of incredible events and moments. And tickets are going fast Charles Ross’s amazing One Man Star Wars and One Man Lord of the Ring fascinating audiences of all ages in the Premiere Dance Theatre through Saturday.
