Three remarkable musicians, one exciting trio, Triple Forte promises a concert not-to-be missed on Sunday, May 8

Toronto, April 25, 2005 — The 2004/2005 Music with Bite concert series comes to a close with an outstanding afternoon of chamber music. Triple Forte is composed of three of today’s most gifted young artists. Each of outstanding virtuosity, Denise Djokic (cello), David Jalbert (piano) and Jasper Wood (violin), combine for a concert dedicated to the works of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Kelly-Marie Murphy, a Canadian composer. As part of the Music with Bite concert series, Triple Forte performs on Sunday, May 8, at 1 p.m., at Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay West. Tickets are $8each or $25 for four. For tickets and information, the public can call 416-973-4000, or visit www.harbourfrontcentre.com.

Nova Scotia cellist Denise Djokic’s acclaimed performance at the 2002 Grammy Awards confirmed her status as one of the most exciting young talents in classical music today. Djokic released her first recording under the Sony Classical label, accompanied by pianist David Jalbert. Hailing from Eastern Quebec, David Jalbert has won numerous awards and prizes, including the Dublin International Piano Competition and the CBC Radio-Canada National Competition for Young Performers. New Brunswick native Jasper Wood is a winner of the coveted Sylva Gelber Foundation Award and of the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank, through which he was awarded the use of a 1700 Taft Stradivarius violin.

Music with Bite is an intimate, refreshing experience; children can sit up close to the artists and after the concert ask them questions, while enjoying a complimentary Natrel milk beverage and cookies. Music with Bite, a co-production with Jeunesses Musicales of Ontario, is designed to bring families to Harbourfront Centre to give them the opportunity to sample music of all styles in a friendly, accessible format. All of the artists selected to perform at the concerts bring an element of interactivity, education and entertainment to their programs. Jeunesses Musicales of Canada has, since 1949, dedicated its work to musical excellence and the promotion of music for young people. Jeunesses Musicales of Canada is a member of Jeunesses Musicales International.

Music with Bite is co-produced with Jeunesses Musicales of Ontario with the support of the Government of Canada, the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council.
