View Points presents William “Upski” Wimsatt in discussion on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m.

View Points concludes its discussions and points of views about contemporary culture, focusing on current affairs and issues locally, nationally and internationally with William "Upski" Wimsatt on Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m., at Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay West. Tickets are $10, ( $5 seniors and students). For tickets and information, the public can call 416-973-4000 or visit harbourfrontcentre.com.

Celebrated author/activist William "Upski" Wimsatt discusses race, activism and philanthropy in his first ever Canadian appearance. A journalist, author, multi-issue organizer, philanthropist and lecturer, he’s written two books: the self-published cult classic Bomb The Suburbs which Tupac Shakur called “the best book I read in prison”, and the profound No More Prisons which boldly takes on the American penal system. He recently co-edited How To Get Stupid White Men Out of Office, the title, a takeoff on Michael Moore’s Stupid White Men - which tells the stories of how marginalized voters – gay, punk, black, Latino-organized to make a difference in contested electoral races. He has spoken at dozens of colleges and universities including Harvard, Yale and Oberlin. In 1996, he was the youngest person to be named a “Visionary” by Utne Reader. Currently, Wimsatt is Director of the League of Independent Voters (indyvoter.org).
