PARTICIPANTS ANNOUNCED FOR POETRY NOW: 6th ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE BARDSTORONTO, March 14, 2014 — Hear ye, hear ye! IFOA is delighted to announce the 20 poets selected for this year’s Poetry NOW competition, taking place on April 2, 2014. A jury comprising Director Geoffrey E. Taylor, Artistic Associate Jen Tindall and Joe Kertes, Dean of Creative and Performing Arts at Humber, will select one author to win an invitation to read at the 35th annual International Festival of Authors(October 23 to November 2, 2014) and have their book advertised in NOW Magazine.The 20 established and upcoming poets selected to grace the IFOA stage are: Clara Blackwood, Jason Camlot, Edward Carson, Sadiqa de Meijer, Kate Marshall Flaherty, Len Gasparini, Catherine Graham, Aisha Sasha John, Julie Joosten, JonArno Lawson, Shannon Maguire, Chris Pannell, Sarah Pinder, Jacob Scheier, Deena Kara Shaffer, Jim Smith, Sheila Stewart, John Terpstra, Sarah Yi-Mei Tsiang and Adrienne Weiss. IFOA welcomes back NOW Magazine’s Susan G. Cole to host this year’s event.On February 3, IFOA joined their long-time media partner NOW Magazine to issue an open call for submissions from poets who have been published within the past five years and are currently in print with a trade publisher. IFOA accepted submissions for the event through each poet’s publishing representative until March 3.
