Authors at Harbourfront Centre rebrands for its 40th season as IFOA

TORONTO, September 3, 2013 — Authors at Harbourfront Centre begins its 40th season of weekly events this month with a new name, a new look and a new website, ifoa.org. Events now fall under the banner IFOA. The season kicks off on September 18 with a special launch of Giller Prize-winning author Joseph Boyden’s new novel, The Orenda.

“Our rebranding is about simplicity,” says Director Geoffrey Taylor. “Our Festival, the largest of its kind in North America, is now internationally recognized as IFOA. It only makes sense that we unify and rename our programming to reflect this. An exciting and major part of this rebranding is the launch of our new website, which offers an enhanced user experience.”

IFOA hosts a celebrated series of weekly readings from September to June (now known as IFOA Weekly), the world-renowned International Festival of Authors (October 24–November 3, 2013) and two festivals for younger readers, YoungIFOA (October 26, 29, 30 and November 1, 2013) and the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading® Festival of Trees™ (May 14–15, 2014).

Information about all of these programmes can be found on the new website, along with event details and original blog content. An abundance of useful online resources and downloadable material for writers, publishers, teachers and media will be available soon.

Full details of the 34th annual International Festival of Authors will be available online on September 6, 2013. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 17.
