Harbourfront Centre announces the winning Free Flicks: Invented Worlds
Audience Choice Film

TORONTO, ON (Aug. 21, 2013) –– Harbourfront Centre is pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Free Flicks: Invented Worlds series audience choice film – Moulin Rouge!. On Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 (at approximately 9 p.m.), Harbourfront Centre is set to screen Baz Luhrmann’s lavish tale of love and loss set in 1899 Paris, France.

Starring Nicole Kidman, Ewan McGregor and Jim Broadbent, Moulin Rouge! tells the story of a young English poet who falls in love with the terminally-ill star of the Moulin Rouge cabaret. The film was a popular choice among the general public and earned almost half of the 1000 audience choice votes registered. Other films contending for the final screening included Fantastic Mr. Fox and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

This past summer, the public was invited to watch a variety of family-friendly movies curated by NOW Magazine senior film critic Norm Wilner. Every Wednesday night in July and August featured a film that investigated the notion of geography that didn’t exist before the cameras started rolling…invented worlds.

Join us for the final Free Flick of the year! Come early to find a good spot and enjoy activities prior to the start of each screening. Snacks, drinks and other treats will also be available for purchase before and during the show.

Free Flicks is part of Harbourfront Centre’s 2013 Summer Season that boasts more than 20 FREE festivals and events, featuring world-class local and international programming for children, youth and adults.
