TORONTO, May 13, 2013 ---- Authors at Harbourfront Centre (AUTHORS) offers three events before wrapping up the 39th season of weekly readings. Carl Hiaasen, columnist and bestselling author reads from and discusses his latest novel (June 13); for the fifth year the Book and Periodical Council and Humber College in association with AUTHORS presents Book Summit 2013 featuring keynote speaker Chuck Klosterman of the New York Times Magazine (June 20); and experimental poets Kenneth Goldsmith and Christian Bök join us for an event in partnership with The Power Plant (June 25).

June 13: Two seasoned pros take the stage in a one-of-a-kind interview. Author of 12 previous novels, Carl Hiaasen sits down with fellow bestselling author Andrew Pyper, to answer questions about his latest work, Bad Monkey, a novel where the greedy, the corrupt and the degraders of what’s left of pristine Florida—now, of the Bahamas as well—get their comeuppance in true diabolically entertaining fashion.

June 20: Industry professionals unite at Harbourfront Centre for Book Summit 2013 to celebrate the exciting changes in the literary world through a day-long conference featuring various workshops and panel discussions. Shake, Rattle & Roll, kicks off with a keynote address by author and New York Times Magazine’s ethicist Chuck Klosterman, followed by an interview and Q&A. For a full schedule visit Tickets are $166.25, $92.75 for students and seniors.

June 25: Experimental poets Kenneth Goldsmith and Christian Bök, two of the earliest founders of the conceptual writing movement will discuss an unofficial history and overview of conceptual literature, concluding with a reading. Presented with The Power Plant, tickets are $15, FREE for members of The Power Plant and AUTHORS supporters.

Bios of all participants are available at under “Events.”

Events take place at 7:30pm in the York Quay Centre (235 Queens Quay West), unless otherwise noted. Tickets are $10 to the general public, FREE for supporters, students and youth 25 and under with ID unless otherwise noted. Box Office/Information: 416-973-4000 or
