Harbourfront Centre sparkles as part of the 1st Toronto International Jewellery Festival

Toronto, ON (April 29, 2013) – Harbourfront Centre announces the inaugural Toronto International Jewellery Festival (TIJF). Celebrating the best of contemporary design, the festival features over 30 jewellery and metal arts exhibitions throughout the city including eight at Harbourfront Centre.

As part of the TIJF and the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) Conference, Harbourfront Centre is hosting a Happening on May 17 open to both industry members and the public. On May 11 and 12 Harbourfront Centre will present a workshop, lead by Michael David Sturlin, in partnership with the Metal Arts Guild of Canada.

Festival co-founder Melanie Egan comments: “Paul McClure and I are thrilled with the overwhelming support, generosity and vision of our co-institutions, Harbourfront Centre and George Brown College. We want to extend our gratitude to all the venues, sponsors and volunteers that have helped to make this festival and conference possible. Toronto’s George Brown College has established a reputation for equipping students with the skills, industry experience and credentials to pursue the careers of their choice. The college offers programs from its three main campuses located across the downtown core, including its newest location at the Toronto waterfront which opened in September 2012. George Brown offers 148 full-time and 1,600 continuing education programs across a wide variety of professions to a student body of approximately 64,000 (including those enrolled in full-time, part-time and continuing education programs).
