Park for FREE all day long!TORONTO, ON (June 12, 2012) – Harbourfront Centre is please to announce that its new York Quay parking facility will open to the public on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. To celebrate, Harbourfront Centre is offering FREE parking on opening day (June 13th) from 7 a.m. to midnight, followed by a special discounted opening rate that will be available for a limited time.The new parking garage is located at the bottom of Lower Simcoe at 225 Queens Quay West, and provides easy access to Harbourfront Centre and other shops and attractions along Toronto’s scenic waterfront. The new parking lot is also walking-distance to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the CN Tower and the Air Canada Centre.The new York Quay parking facility, which was built by Harbourfront Centre and Waterfront Toronto, is part of the overall revitalization of Toronto’s waterfront. The construction of the underground garage allowed for the creation of future public space on the site including two new public squares — Canada Square and Ontario Square. The renewal of Toronto’s waterfront is funded by the Governments of Canada and Ontario and the City of Toronto.With a 300-vehicle capacity, the new parking structure is designed to generate revenue in support of arts and culture programming at Harbourfront Centre. A special discounted opening rate is available for a limited time at $4 per half hour to a maximum of $8 during the day (from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and $4 per half hour to maximum of $5 during the evening (6 p.m. to 7 a.m.).Regular parking rates are $4 per half hour to a maximum of $12 during the day (from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and $4 per half hour to maximum of $9 during the evening (6 p.m. to 7 a.m.).For additional details about Harbourfront Centre’s new parking garage and/or Harbourfront Centre programmes, the public may visit harbourfrontcentre.com or call the Information Hotline at 416-973-4000.
