AUTHORS AT HARBOURFRONT CENTRE CONCLUDES ITS 38th SEASON

TORONTO, May 23, 2012 ---- Authors at Harbourfront Centre (AUTHORS) wraps up its 38th season with a reading/interview featuring Gloria Vanderbilt (June 11), a reading by Grace O’Connell (June 13) who shares her debut novel, and for the fourth year Harbourfront Centre hosts Book Summit 2012 (June 21) featuring a keynote address by advertising guru, Terry O’Reilly.

June 11: The multi-talented Gloria Vanderbilt (USA) reads from her latest book The Things We Fear Most, a collection of short stories that range from seizing a moment in time to merely stepping into a room to find that everything in your life has been inexplicably reversed. Vanderbilt will be interviewed following her reading. Please note this event takes place on a Monday instead of our regular Wednesday evenings.

June 13: Award winning author Shree Ghatage (Canada) reads from her most recent novel, Thirst where, between the lushness of India and the sombre grayness of London during WWII, love is unexpectedly found and lost in a hastily arranged union between two young people who begin their marriage as complete strangers. Freelance author and editor, Grace O’Connell (Canada) shares her debut novel, Magnified World, which follows a young woman who begins to experience unexplained blackouts in the wake of her mother’s suicide. An additional author to be announced.

June 21: Publishing professionals assemble at Harbourfront Centre for Book Summit 2012. This day-long conference, The Page and Persuasion: Discoverability in the Age of Abundance, explores the persuasive factors that influence what readers discover in the age of abundance. Advertising expert Terry O’Reilly delivers the keynote address. For a full schedule visit booksummit.ca. Tickets are $166.25, $92.75 for students and seniors.

Events take place at 7:30pm in the York Quay Centre (235 Queens Quay West), unless otherwise noted. Tickets are $10 to the general public, FREE for members, students, and youth 25 and under with ID unless otherwise noted. Box Office/Information: 416-973-4000 or readings.org.
