Harbourfront Centre’s picturesque skating rink opens Saturday, November 19!

TORONTO, ON (Nov. 18, 2011) Harbourfront Centre’s Natrel® Rink is the first outdoor rink to open in Toronto this winter season! On Saturday, November 19 (weather permitting), come out and enjoy the scenic waterfront surroundings on the Natrel® Rink–Toronto’s favorite artificially cooled outdoor rink.

The Natrel® Rink is the hub for all SKATE CULTURE activities at Harbourfront Centre, including DJ Skate Night, Learn to Skate and HarbourKIDS: SK8.

Built in 1983, the Natrel® Rink hosts more than 150,000 visitors each skating season and is one of the largest and most popular outdoor rinks in the city. Open seven days a week, skaters of all ages and skill levels can enjoy a whirl around the rink. Regular hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m.–10 p.m., and from 10 a.m.-11p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

No skates? No problem! Harbourfront Centre provides skate rentals ($8), sharpening, restrooms and locker services in a newly refurbished change room.

To add to the skating experience, Harbourfront Centre provides outdoor fire pits right next to the rink! Patrons can also get cozy in our new lounge area inside the Lakeside Eats restaurant where they can play board games, watch movies and sporting events, warm up by the fireplace and enjoy delicious food, gourmet coffee and hot chocolate in between skate time!

Specialty winter comfort food demos will take place in Lakeside Eats every weekend at 2:30 p.m. throughout December. Visitors can also purchase yummy winter treats from a World Café vendor every Saturday and Sunday throughout December from 1-6 p.m.

For additional information and complete event listings, the public may visit or call the Natrel Rink Hotline at 416-973-4866. All SKATE CULTURE events take place on the beautiful Natrel® Rink located along the scenic shores of Lake Ontario.
