INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF AUTHORS WELCOMES
SAINT-MALO TO WORD ALLIANCE PARTNERSHIP

TORONTO, October 25, 2011 ----- The International Festival of Authors (IFOA) is pleased to welcome the Étonnants Voyageurs Festival international du livre& du film in Saint-Malo, France into the ground-breaking group of international Literary Festivals that is the Word Alliance. Formed in 2010, the Word Alliance is a collaboration between literary festivals which aims to present the best authors to international audiences at events around the globe. This new addition was announced last night at the Welcome Party for the 2011 IFOA.

Geoffrey E. Taylor, Director of the IFOA said: "We are delighted to welcome our friends from France into the Word Alliance. Our current partnership has already led to several opportunities to collaborate on the international stage. The addition of Saint-Malo increases the language scope of the Alliance to include French.”

The Word Alliance includes: Bookworm International Literary Festival in Beijing, Edinburgh International Book Festival, International Festival of Authors in Toronto, International Literature Festival in Berlin, Jaipur Literary Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature in New York, and now Étonnants Voyageurs Festival international du livre& du film in Saint-Malo. It is intended that the group will ultimately expand to include Africa and Latin America.
